Research and planning- 2x horror film magazines analysis's

This is a film magazine cover page and also it has a genre of horror. I can tell this because of the image on the cover page and also the use of colours that are associated with horror, not only this but the Masthead in a big font on the top of the page 'Scars'. The word scars has connotations with blood as you can see the girl has blood all over her face and her body. Moreover the main coverline is written in red associated with blood with sub headings in white. The font size of this horror film magazine is going the order of its importance, from the masthead which is in the biggest font size then the main cover lines of the magazine and then the sub headings to the issue date under the masthead. The horror film magazine also uses the three color scheme rule which are red, black and white, however there is more red on the cover page to demonstrate the blood and terror. This horror film masgazine includes features of a magazine like:
  • Masthead
  • Slug line/tag line
  • Issue date
  • barcode
  • Main cover lines
  • sub headings
  • Main image
  • 3 colour rule
By looking at the cover of the horror film magazine. I can tell that the audience for this film are teenagers because there is a image of a teenage girl so I assume that this is for teenagers. The age rating for this film would probably be 12A because it may have disturbing images for young children therefore, they must be accompannied by an adult. Looking at the image of the cover page I think that the girl is being potrayed as being weak but also the last person in the film, also that she was the last person to go through the whole film and survive until the end, where she is then terrorised. The cinematography shot used in this cover page is a mid shot.

This is also a horror genre film magazine, it has two genres because its a film magazine and that its a horror genre. I can tell that it is a horror genre because of the image used in the cover page, its an image of Emily rose from the exorcist, she is a girl who gets possessed by evil and ghosts which turns her to the monster and makes her do things that a normal person cant do. The three colours that is used here are yellow, whte and black. The masthead at the top of the cover page in big font 'paracinema' demonstrates that this is horror because the word 'para' is from paramount picture which is a production company name. The target audience for this film I think would be a 15 arting but by looking at the cover image I see a teenage young girl so I think its a 12A rating and above because of the image, the image looks disturbing and she is potrayed to be looking weak and the main character of the whole film who is possessed. I think this is a womens magazine by reading 'the women's issue' but I also think that its for teenage children. The cinematography shot being used here is an over the shoulder shot to reveal her face and how she looks at this state and to create tension and suspense for the people who are going to watch this film. Also on this horror film magazine the font size goes in order of importance, the main writing you will see is the masthead which is bright, bold and eye catching to the readers.
This horror film magazine has:
  • Masthead
  • Barcode
  • main coverlines
  • sub headings
  • 3 colour rule
  • Issue dates
  • The image of Emily rose
