Research and planning- 2x horror film posters analysis's

The genre of this film poster is a poster and its a horror genre. I can tell this because it has one main image which describes what the whole film is going to be about, not only this but the slugline on top of the page gives us an idea of what the film is also about, also I can tell this is a horror genre because it uses words like 'Evil' and 'zombie', these two words are associated with horror and the Masthead written in a big font and style from word art is also associated with horror. 'Halloween' this is something that comes every year on the month of october when its dark, so this is another thing that I can tell which is demonstrating horror. The film poster uses font sizes in order of importance such as the masthead to the slugline to the body text which has font style of steel tongs which is used in some film posters that you may see. The masthead colour goes with the background image of the film poster not only this but I also think that the colour of the masthead orange, yellow and red have connotations with fire. The film poster also uses an image of a person standing straight looking powerful and almost the hero of the film, the last person standing after the journey of terror. This makes the person look very mature, strong and a good fighter who comes right to the end of the film, it is also representing that men are to be more stronger than women, so its talking about gender here. I think the target audience of this film poster is children at the age of 12 and over because even the image isn't as intimidating or disturbing for the parents of children to say you cant go and watch the film, the film is about zombies so this isnt as intimidating, however children can be accompanied by an adult if any problems. The cinematography shot of this film poster is a long shot to show the whole body of the person standing wisely also it uses a close up of a face on fire to illustrate the terror and the horror part of the film. The poster uses a 3 colour rule like orange, black and white to make it look consistent and connotating with fire.

This is also a film poster and a horror genre. I can tell this because of the word 'mirrors' this reminds me of old jokes like saying 'candy man' on the mirror or 'bloody mary' and if you say those a couple of times then you are suppose to see things. The word 'mirror' associates horror aswell as you can see on the poster it shows a reflection of the letter 'R' as we know that mirrors give reflection. I can also see that this is horror because of the image of a girls face with wide eyes and her mouth opened, maybe just about to scream, not only this but the colour of the background is all black and the word 'mirror' is red also connotating blood. The poster uses the three colour rule here aswell like red, white and black. The font size go in order of importance such as the masthead in the biggest font size then the tag line and then the person who produced it and lastly the body text in the font style steel tongs which I will be using in my horror film poster. The cinematography shot used on this poster is a extreme closeup of a girls face. I also think that she is represented as being the last girl in the film and presentaed as being weak at the end because its her turn to die, therefore this makes me think of horror of this film poster. The target sudience for this horror film poster is also children at he age of 12 and over because again the cover does not seem to be as scary so there is a chance that parents will let their children watch this horror film.
